World Heritage map in 1978 / Carte du patrimoine mondial en 1978

In 1978, there were 12 properties inscribed on the World Heritage List. Four were natural sites and eight were cultural. Following is the list of cultural properties inscribed on the World Heritage List from 1979 to 1983. I prepared the ICOMOS recommendations for each of these nominations following the review and recommendations of Dr. Léon Pressouyre in consultation with international experts, and the ICOMOS Bureau (President, Secretary General, Treasurer General and 5 V-Presidents) . The recommendations were then presented to the World Heritage Bureau and Committee by the ICOMOS President, Dr. Pressouyre or me.
